The garden of Rita

Walking through vicolo Bertolotti (catalan name: carrerò dels hebreus), the walls, the doors, the windows are decorated with colourful vases, plants and flowers, all realised by Rita and the neighbours of via ospedale, via Sant’Erasmo, via Santa Barbara, via Sannino and piazza Santa Croce, using recycled container of every shape. In the whole area the cobblestones street is perfectly clean, plants are beautifully neat like in a private garden and the order and ornament are surprising. Rita, with a small action of civilization, showed that you can radically change a neighborhood. Citizens and tourists, strolling through the old town, discover with surprise an artistic corner of Alghero, thanks to a contagious love thought. Rita’s idea can be perfectly summed up in the welcome sign you can find on the street “If it’s your town make it beautiful and clean, if it’s not your town respect it”.
